Nadir is a space-faring rpg designed for one player.

You find yourself on a small ship lost in an unknown part of space. You must keep your ship and your crew together as you face one of one hundred unique encounters each turn. The journey ahead of you will not be an easy one.

Nadir is split into two books. One contains the overview and rules. The other contains the exploration encounters.

To play you will require a pen, a pencil, some graph paper and two d10.

We have now included a printable zine version of Nadir. If you have a double sided printer you will be able to print out the game and fold it into two books. Make sure to flip on the short edge when printing.

If you are interested in Nadir, please check out Ostro. Ostro is a high seas fantasy with a similar structure, expanded mechanics and a greater focus on narrative.

Is there any chance of a direct credit card payment option? I'm boycotting Paypal as they're hostile to independent journalism.

Thanks for your question. You should see a card option now!

I do indeed. Thanks! Looking forward to trying Nadir and Ostro.

Also, I came across your Itch page from Kickstarter. Looks like I missed the True Horizons campaign. I'll follow your progress from here. It looks intriguing.

Thanks for your support! I really appreciate it. I'll be sure to get all the new work up on Itch as soon as possible.

Hey! I originally backed this on Kickstarer, but I didn't get a chance to try it until recently. I wish I had played it sooner!

One question I have, so far: When you return to a sector you have already explored, do you roll Exploration again? I was thinking you do since it seems like you could "cheat" the repair/upgrade system otherwise, but the instructions specify that you only roll Exploration when entering an unexplored sector.

Hey! Thanks for your comment and thanks for backing! You could definitely "cheat" the repair rolls by coasting back through explored sectors. I think that would rob the game of challenge a little bit but it's ultimately up to you and the narrative you create. This is a loophole I noticed myself and the sort of thing I work to refine as I continue to develop games.

You could keep rolling Exploration when traveling through explored sectors, just don't add to the sector tally. Or you could avoid spending too much time in explored space unless the ship is in dire straits.

Thanks again!

Great! Thanks for the swift and thorough reply!

Happy to help and thanks again for your support!

I keep coming back to this game again and again. so simple and elegant, yet so good at telling stories of exploration, discovery and survival. the DIY sheet is so straightforward that i can draw it during class in my notebook, and play a couple of games while im bored.

all in all, a must play solo rpg.
